As the result
of several mergers and a period of rapid growth, the practice
now has 16 Partners and over 100 staff.
Historically,
LJ Heron & Co were established in Durham shortly after
the end of the Second World War. Following the retirement
of Mr Heron in 1978 the firm changed its name to Burt
Hart & Pratt.
Steavenson
Plant and Park were established in Darlington in the 1830's
and continued to practice in that name until a merger
took place between Burt Hart & Pratt and Stevenson
Plant and Park in 1993, the result of which was the formation
of Blackett Hart & Pratt.
More
recently additional mergers have included Walton Hardy
and Clough of Darlington, and Deas Mallen in 1998 and
2001 respectively.
Deas
Mallen Souter were formed in December 1989 in Newcastle
upon Tyne as a niche civil litigation practice.
Blackett
Hart & Pratt now occupies offices in Newcastle, Durham
and Darlington including a new office at Belmont Business
Park, Durham.
